OLOL College Accreditation

Our Lady of the Lake College is accredited regionally by the Commission on Colleges Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Regionally accredited schools are preferred over nationally accredited schools when it comes to academic standards. Schools that receive their accreditation nationally are for-profit whereas non-profit regionally accredited institutions have standards that are more academically stringent. This is good if you plan on transferring to a different university as some won’t accept credit from nationally accredited institutions. Generally, if an institution is for-profit, they’ll have lower admission standards accepting money from anyone willing to buy their product “education”, no extracurricular activities that other schools like to see on applications as these cost money and lower profits, and the quality of education received at schools who’s primary goal is to raise profits comes into question.

Extracurricular Activities

When it comes to extracurricular activities at OLOL College, in addition to those same recognizable Greek organizations you see at most universities like Phi Theta Alpha and Beta Sigma Mu, Our Lady of the Lake also provides groups that can help you become more knowledgeable in your profession like the Association of Surgical Technology, the Student Nurse Association, the Student Practical Nurse Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives which can help with career placement through networking and equip you with leadership skills essential for life in the medical field.
